No one ever really explains how to prepare for birth and motherhood
But I bet you are hearing difficult birth stories, ‘just wait until…’ comments and left trying to figure everything out from ten minute midwife appointments that barely scratch the surface. So is it any wonder you’re feeling slightly overwhelmed by it all right now?
And honestly it makes sense you feel this way
It’s not that you’re not preparing, or that you haven’t tried to understand what’s coming. It’s that most birth preparation either gives you loads of information with no real clarity, or tells you to ‘just relax’ without actually showing you how.
So you’re left knowing bits… but not really knowing what to do with that information.
And that’s exactly what I help with.
Instead of just cramming your brain with more information, you’ll actually learn how to train your mind and body for birth. So that you can stay calm when things feel intense, know exactly how to work with your body to make things feel more manageable and how to make clear and confident decisions about your antenatal care.
Not only am I a hypnobirthing and antenatal teacher, but I’m also a registered mental health therapist. So alongside understanding birth, you’ll also learn how to manage your thoughts, your worries and how to feel confident advocating for the birth you actually want.
I had no idea what I was doing in my first pregnany
When it came to birth, I thought having a general idea of what might happen would be enough. And I expected my midwife to tell me the rest.
I’d done some reading, heard different experiences, picked up bits of information along the way… and assumed I’d just figure it out when the time came. I loved using the phrase ‘I’ll just go with the flow’ when someone asked me my birth plans. Spoiler alert: 10 out 10 don’t recommend.
But what I didn’t realise is that in those more intense moments, your brain doesn’t think hang on, what did we read about this again, it needs tools and techniques to actually help you cope with whatever is happening.
Because it’s not just about understanding birth it’s about knowing how to be in it.
And that only comes from actually preparing and training for it during pregnancy.
What you can expect when you work with me
Whether it’s online, in a group or privately, from the moment you sign up, you’ll have me in your corner.
I know exactly what it’s like to have a million questions and fall down a Google rabbit hole… only to come away with 100 more. So I’m really passionate about every expectant Mum having access to clear, high quality information and a space to talk things through, ask questions and feel properly supported.
And I don’t care whether you’re planning a home birth by candlelight or a caesarean birth.
But what I do care about is that you have everything you need to make decisions that feel right for you and your family.
So as birth approaches, you’re not second guessing yourself, you’ll feel clear, confident, and ready for whatever your birth looks like.
How my birth preparation is different to others
I’m not training you to be a midwife
You won’t get information overload or be expected to know everything before labour starts. But I will equip you with the essential infomation and skills that you need to understand what’s hapening and how to stay more calm and comfortable throughout. I’ll also show you exactly what to do and ask if plans change, so you’re never let thinking what now?!
I can help with all those what ifs on your mind
As a registered mental health therapist of almost a decade, I know a thing or two when it comes to reducing stress and anxiety. I see so many course that claim to ‘calm your nervous system’ without any understanding of what that actually means. But I use evidence-based care to actually help you feel more steady going into birth and confident you’ll know exactly how to handle it as a team with your birth partner
It’s not a one sized fits all approach
I understand that everyone will have different ideas and preferences about how they’d like their birth to be. And I’m not here to convince you otherwise. So regardless of what you’re aiming for, I’m hear to support you decisions and help you think about a plan to make that more realistic for you, taking into account any changes that might come up along the way
